"Damned dirty apes!"

Those were the words of Charlton Heston's character in Planet of the Apes and what I was reminded of when I read Nelson Guirado's post at his Asymmetric Blog (which is a sponsor of the current BUCL campaign.

Read the post and learn what those Damned dirty apes can tell us about Spain today.

Neocolonialism is as neocolonialism does. Spain's been doing it ever since it got the chance handed to it by the Castro regime. I also had a wonderful Spanish grandfather, but the ugly truth is still the truth. Trying to rationalize it away won't change it.

Cuba didn't exist the way it did before the Spanish arrived. None of us would have ever been Cuban.

So if your parents do terrible things, it's somehow OK because if it weren't for them you wouldn't be here?
